In Spencerport, there are a bunch of properties being worked on. Where Sully’s Barbershop used to be on Ridge Road is now becoming Everything Aesthetics Med Spa. They would like to be done with renovations this month and be open by July 1st.

It’s 7AM and they’re already working on the space at 84 South Union Street. What was once The Lash Lounge and Iris Sage Aesthetics is now one empty space being renovated. They’ve been working on this property a lot this Spring.

It’s hard to tell if construction workers are working on the three story building on the corner next to Grandpa Sams because the outside of the structure looks complete, but there are definitely people still working on it. This building has been going up since the Spring of 2021.

Improvements were made this Spring and will continue this Summer in downtown Spencerport and beyond.

If you follow the Spencerport business community like I do, you know that a new business will start up or an existing business will close for good routinely. Spencerport is not a sleepy town. A new entrepreneur tries to make a splash in the village all the time and an unfortunate business owner makes the hard decision to close down all the time too. It’s common for this happen in Spencerport because there are so many businesses lining Union Street and Ridge Road and Route 31 in Ogden and Parma. With the large amount of commercial property in Spencerport, there really is never a dull moment in the village and towns. It’s unpredictable too. When you think the village is going to be without a hand made gift shop like Bauers Boutique, a new store, Hollywood Decorative Creations, opens up in Tops Plaza selling hand made gifts. And then there was the surprising move by Atlas Gym to leave Spencerport for Greece. Atlas Gym had been in Spencerport for decades! It wasn’t a very exciting change at this location because the gym turned into storage units. What is exciting is to see the construction be done in downtown Spencerport so we can find out what new business moves into the sparkling new building. Overall, it’s a full time job keeping up with all the changes in the business community in this “small town”.

CDL Printing closed down in Tops Plaza in the spring of 2023. It’s almost a year later and the space is now occupied by Unified Martial Arts. The last space in Tops Plaza that still needs to be occupied is where Rite Aid used to be. This property has been vacant for many years and has been hard to fill because of the sheer size of it which is very big. A liquor store wants to do business there but Fowler’s Canaltown Wine and Spirits in Spencerport is fighting this. They think that the village doesn’t need two liquor stores so close to each other so they started a petition against the new liquor store. There is also West Ridge Wine and Spirits in Spencerport that started in February of 2022, so really there would be three liquor stores in town if the space next to Tops was filled.

Five more businesses have opened up in Spencerport in 2024: The Pirate Toy Fund, Flower City Wraps, Vendi Excavating, Art Décor, and Lift Bridge Financial. Four stores have closed down this year too: Sullivans, Fetch, Brewskis, and Ogden Dental Group. Spencerport is resilient though and a lot of times when a business closes and a space becomes available, it gets filled within six months to a year.
