At the rate were going, we’re going to need the retail spaces being built next to Grandpa Sams. There’s been a steady flow of new businesses in Spencerport for years, so there’s a good chance that business owners will fill the new retail space once construction is done. In 2021, there were twelve new businesses in Spencerport and in 2022, there were ten new businesses and this year there were an impressive sixteen new businesses. Even though there’s currently around ten retail spaces available in Spencerport, it will be nice when they complete the building in downtown. We might need more retail space because the trend of starting a new business in Spencerport may not change.

Sitting in the coffeeshop across the street from J. William Jewelers, I sip on a Lemon Ginger tea while waiting to go to the customer appreciation day at the jewelry store. It’s a two day event and today I plan on going shopping and tomorrow I’ll get a hot dog at Barton’s food truck that is catering the event.

I arrive at the store around the time that it opens at 10AM. I noticed that a lot of customers were there. At the entrance way, there were donuts and coffee. I took a bag of little donuts and put them in my coat pocket and then walked around the store shopping. I said hello to someone I knew, a regular that goes to the coffee shop across the street.

Signs were all throughout the store for 15% off and 25% off and even 75% off jewelry and there were a lot of workers ready to help me buy something. I stopped at the 75% off selection and looked at a plain silver necklace. I asked the owner how much the necklace cost and it was under twenty dollars so I decided to buy it. He went to the back of the store and gift wrapped the necklace putting it in a box with a bow. This will make for a great stocking stuffer! He gave me two tickets too. One was for a raffle and the other was a free ticket for a hot dog tomorrow.

I maneuvered through the many customers that were throughout the store and went out the front door and went back to the coffee shop to get another tea.
