From Spencerport Kiwanis member Donna Peasley:

Many compliments to the merchants of Spencerport and Ogden for their ongoing generosity to the charitable organizations such as Kiwanis and Rotary, previously Lions and others. The many businesses that contribute out of their pockets to help with children’s needs, health needs, clothing, vision problems, disabilities and so much more are heroes of our life. Their philanthropy adds to the quality of life. The $25 donations are just as valuable as the $500 ones.

We want Spencerport to be a destination. Having a mid-size retail chain next to Walgreens would attract people from Chili, Gates, Hilton, Brockport, Greece. A mid-size retail chain would fit by this corner because it would complement Walgreens which is another retail chain. Not too far from this corner is a Kwik Fill and a McDonalds, so the appearance of another retail chain would fit into the mix. It’s been four years too, since the Walgreens was built, and over ten years since the Tops gas station was built, so it’s not like these kind of businesses are being built every year. In fact, the best outcome would have another retail chain built next to Walgreens, but that would be the extent of it. If there were more than two big businesses on this corner, it would start to build up and look like Brockport near the corner of Route 31 and Lake Ave. and we want to remain “Someplace Special”.

We are a suburb of Rochester and only fifteen minutes from the city. We aren’t a small town like Hilton or Churchville and we should act like it. Building another mid-size retail chain next to Walgreens would be a step in the right direction for Spencerport to be a place that people from other towns want to come to. And Spencerport is growing. There were over fifteen new businesses that started in Spencerport in the last couple of years. Let’s continue this progress of strengthening Spencerport and build a mid-size retail chain next to Walgreens.

There's a lot going on in Spencerport. In June of last year, Riccardi Italian Deli opened up on W. Ridge Road. Now there's another new business on Route 104 called West Ridge Wine and Spirits. They started in February in a portion of the building where the old country western bar used to be. It's a small store that sells wine and liquor. Meanwhile, in Spencerport's central business district, a new hair studio opened up in March. Brushed Salon Studio is located in Spencer's Landing next to Yoga With Integrity. They do regular haircuts, but they also do coloring and hair extensions. Along with these two businesses, there's been six new businesses all together that have gone into buildings around Spencerport this year.

Out of the fifteen or more new businesses that opened in Spencerport in the last year and a half, only one business is a national company. Your CBD Store is a nationwide company that opened up one year ago in the plaza next to Tim Horton's. Their store was next to another national company, State Farm Insurance Agency. In late winter of this year though, they moved to the central business district where Bauers Boutique used to 123 S. Union St.

Loyal Nine Development has an office in the State Farm Plaza. Their company has over twenty employees and they've been in business for twelve years. One of their most recent projects was at North Hampton Park where they built an addition to the ski lodge. Along with this improvement, in the summer of last year, a new natural playground was built not too far from the ski lodge by a different company than Loyal Nine Development.
